Peekskill’s Main Street Streetscape Improvements Set to Begin: Sidewalk Areas and Parking Lane to be Restricted During Construction
The Main Street Streetscape construction project will begin on Monday, August 29, 2022 and is anticipated to be completed in early Fall 2022.
The project includes the replacement of sidewalks and curbs on the north side of Main Street from Nelson Avenue to 922 Main Street (“Lofts on Main”) and from 922 Main Street to North Division Street. The project also includes new street trees and decorative light poles to match the adjacent streets in the downtown district.
Please note that the use of the sidewalk and parking lane will be restricted during this project. The sidewalk and parking lane from Nelson Avenue to 922 Main Street will close on or around Monday, August 29, 2022, and sections are expected to reopen as they are completed. The sidewalk and parking lane from 922 Main Street to North Division Street are expected to close in September 2022, with sections expected to reopen as they are completed.
Traffic on Main Street from Nelson Avenue to North Division Street will be restricted to one lane in alternating directions during work hours (approximately 9am to 4pm) with flaggers on site to direct traffic.
Access to buildings and businesses with entrances on the north side of Main Street will be maintained via sidewalk ramps.
